GICS has commenced a collaborative approach of implementing a sustainable telehealth model for the Medical Oncology Outpatients unit, located at the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC).

 

Project achievements so far include; establishing a telehealth working group consisting of members from Medical Oncology Outpatients; organising telehealth training and support for administration officers and clinicians; and developing in collaboration with BRICC, the resource Telehealth Clinical Guidelines - Patient selection for oncology consults. GICS Small Grants Program 2024-25 Now Open

The GICS Small Grants Program 2024-25 will support small scale projects aimed at improving access, experiences and outcomes for cancer patients and/or carers living in the Grampians region.

Projects are time limited, up to three months' duration, with a funding allocation of $10,000.

Applications opened on Monday 6 May 2024 and projects are to be completed by Monday 30 June 2025.

GICS Professional Development Grants - Now Closed

Our Professional Development Grant applications closed on 30 June 2024 and we're pleased to say that this was a very successful initiative; receiving over 65 EOI / applications from staff across the Grampians region.

We're currently collating a report to summarise and evaluate this funding program and are pleased to say we will be running another PD Grant round for 2024-25. We'll be promoting this funding opportunity on our website, socials and Spring Newsletter - watch this space.

2023 Annual Forum & 2022-23 Annual Report

This GICS 2023 Annual Forum was very well received with almost 50 participants attending on the day. Our event was held online on Tuesday 17 October 2023 between 12.30 - 2pm. The line-up of presenters at our forum explored the concept of 'Achieving Well' through the lens of cancer care planning and delivery in the Grampians region - watch the recording via the 'Watch Now' button below.

GICS are also pleased to share our 2022-23 Annual Report which provides an opportunity for us to highlight our work and achievements over the last financial year.

The report details our activities and financial performance during this period.

Applications for the 2023 Grants Program closed in May and our GICS team, along with members of our Consumer Advisory Group, have reviewed all applications received.

We are very happy to announce the successful applications that sought funding as part of the GICS 2023 Grants Program. It is very encouraging to have some many service improvement ideas come through to us.

Care of the Older Person Toolkit

The VICS Care of the Older Person Toolkit has been developed to assist health services and ICS improve the care of the older person with cancer.

The toolkit provides information to help identify and address existing barriers, examples of existing geriatric oncology services and key resources including how-to guides, education opportunities and patient resources.
