GRICS is one of 9 partnerships that make up the Victorian Integrated Cancer Services (VICS), Victoria’s cancer service improvement network.

A GRICS Service Improvement Grant is helping South Gippsland Hospital to ensure safe, effective, evidence-based delivery of contemporary cancer care.

Brain cancer Optimal Care Pathway project

Local initiatives to reduce variations in care (relative to the Optimal Care Pathway for brain cancer) were identified at the VICS Brain Cancer Victorian Tumour Summit in October 2020.

The Brain Summit working group reviewed and prioritised unwarranted variations in care, making 4 recommendations

GRICS funded exercise and cancer program which supports those diagnosed with cancer to exercise in the community. Participants have support from LCHS healthcare professionals at Latrobe Leisure.

Anti-cancer drug administration course (ADAC) facilitation workshop created a central place for chemotherapy staff to increase knowledge and a networking opportunity

Melanoma in Gippsland

Melanoma Optimal Care Summit identified that a significant number of melanoma patients are travelling outside the Gippsland region to access melanoma treatment available to them at local health services within Gippsland.
