This GICS resource has been developed to support those who care for someone with a cancer diagnosis.

GICS work closely with their Consumer Advisory Group (CAG) on a variety on service improvement activities, with the goal to improve the experience and outcomes of people affected by cancer.

Noting that the impacts of cancer are not only felt by the individual with a cancer diagnosis but extend to those who care for someone with a cancer diagnosis, the CAG, with the support of GICS, undertook work to improve the knowledge of services available to support carers of people with cancer, in the Grampians region.

As this work evolved it was realised that if a broader resource was created, its utility could be far reaching.

As a result, this one-page resource has been co-produced as a conversation starter for health professionals to engage in conversation with carers of people with cancer – often the forgotten sufferers of a cancer diagnosis.

The document provides a thorough start point for support available to carers of someone with cancer.

We hope you and your teams find this a useful resource – please share far and wide.
