Melanoma optimal care pathway
The Melanoma Optimal Care Pathway project is now complete.
This project was a partnership between the Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service (SMICS) Project Working Group, chaired by A/Prof Andrew Hayden, Monash Health, The Alfred and Peninsula Health, to implement a series of tailored responses to the recommendations from the 2022 Melanoma Optimal Care Summit.
Melanoma Optimal Care Pathway Project outcomes:
- The project led to the successful development of a consistent, stage-specific follow-up guideline for melanoma patients, ensuring consistent care is tailored to individual risk profiles;
- The creation of two new standardised patient resources providing clear and uniform information to support patient understanding. Both patient resources are now available on PROMPT at Alfred Health, Monash Health and Peninsula Health.
- Data collected and analysed during the project confirms that timely care is being maintained across SMICS partner services.
The SMICS team will continue to work with our partner services to support a data-driven and collaborative approach to melanoma care that enhances quality and consistency.
