SMICS supported local initiatives to reduce variations in care as identified from the Brain Cancer Victorian Tumour Summit (VTS) held October 2020.
A collaboration between BSWRICS and the Geelong and Warrnambool Prostate Support Groups secured 2 of 13 national $5,000 seeding grants.
BSWRICS worked with 2 Regional Cancer Centres to create independent service plans that address the needs of each local community whilst ensuring an overarching regional approach.
BSWRICS in partnership with the BSW Health Service Partnership agreed to support the scoping and establishment of cancer care at home, or closer to home, at some health services.
In 2019–20, LMICS led a statewide audit of the quality of multidisciplinary meetings (MDMs) benchmarked against the Victorian MDM Quality Framework.
LMICS and WCMICS undertook a 2-year project to enhance service integration for patients between the 2 regions, sharing the costs of a project officer in a job-sharing and co-located role.
LMICS established a GP Oncology Hotline within Bendigo Health, to enhance the accuracy & timeliness of GP referrals to appropriate cancer treatment and support.
Embed and Spread was a statewide project funded by the Victorian Department of Health and led by the Australian Cancer Survivorship Centre (ACSC) in collaboration with Cancer Council Victoria and implementation support from the VICS.
This project trialed using online questionnaires to improve communications between health services staff and community-based cancer patients living in the Grampians.
Supported by a GICS grant, this project developed an Aboriginal Art Calendar to assist in maintaining high screening rates within the Aboriginal community.
Supported by a GICS grant, this Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre program aims to enhance early access to health education and support for oncology patients in the Grampians region.
Early in 2021, PICS held 3 workshops with parents/carers and young people to hear about their cancer care experiences, identify areas for improvement, and learn about the best ways to work with families.
The Victorian Childhood Cancer Outcomes Registry (VCCOR) is being developed in partnership with the New Zealand National Child Cancer Network
